Telesales Scripts – Love Them or Hate Them?

With the telesales script, you have people who either love them or hate them, there is no middle ground. There is a group of people who believe that a person reading a teleshopping script absolutely sounds like a computer and therefore fails to impress the consumer.

But on a personal level I think that a good telesales script is one that separates the winners from the non-achievers.

There is a good chance that if you are not reading a script, you end up reading the same thing over and over again, which is not good. Also, when you don’t plan your responses to objections, red flags, and reflex responses that are a daily activity, then you’ll be fumbling for an answer.

I’m not saying you have to read a telesales script word for word, but it is very important that you know what to say and how to say the same thing. It is inevitable that you will face opposition from prospects, so it is important that you know how to deal with such situations.

Here are five key areas that you absolutely must have a telesales script for.

1. Gatekeeper scripts – There are proven scripts that can help you get past gatekeepers without your call being filtered further. When asked about the purpose of your call and your name and designation, simply give a clear answer that says “Yes, please let him know that Ross Brigance with ABC Company is waiting.”

Repeating please works wonders! You will be able to broadcast your call and avoid at least 80 percent of detection, you have to try it and it really works.

2. Reflex negative response scripts: It is quite expected that the prospect is not very excited when receiving your call, there is a good chance that he will say that he is already dealing with a company, or that he has no money or any need for the product on offer. You have to be prepared to deal with this negative response, the best way to do it is to simply say “Sir, that’s why I’m calling …” and after you have said this, go on to list all the benefits and offers that you are offering.

3. Voicemail Scripts – Try a voicemail message, it is very effective, but make sure there are no unwanted clumsiness like umms and uhs in it.

4. Rebuttal scripts: Most people grope their way through rebuttals, which is absolutely unacceptable, it is very important that you should write your rebuttals.
